This is no ordinary saint biography! St. Edith Stein—A Spiritual Biography gently leads into the life journey of Edith Stein. We watch as she deals with the sufferings and losses of her childhood. We observe her gradual maturity, the rebirth of her faith, her conversion, her vocational discernment, the days of flight, persecution, and, finally, martyrdom. Pulling from Edith Stein’s own writings, Traflet infuses this biography with Stein’s spirituality: carrying light into the world and understanding human suffering. The result is a deeply moving and readable book that is sure to inspire both those familiar with Edith Stein’s life and work and new readers alike.

Dianne Marie Traflet, J.D., S.T.D., is Associate Dean and Professor of Pastoral Theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology at Seton Hall University, New Jersey. The founder and co-director of the Seminary’s Institute for Christian Spirituality, Dr. Traflet received her J.D. from Seton Hall and her M.A. in Catholic Theology from St. John’s University, New York. She then earned a licentiate and a doctorate in Sacred Theology at St. Thomas Aquinas University (the Angelicum), Rome, focusing on the life and work of St. Edith Stein.

Dr. Traflet has given many presentations, retreats, and days of recollection in the United States and abroad emphasizing the spirituality of Edith Stein. She currently serves on the Theological Commission of the Diocese of Paterson, and the Newark Archdiocesan
